Software shaped around fossil collections.
FossilCore is an independent Windows desktop application created to make detailed fossil collection documentation practical for personal collectors and scalable for institutional use.
Why FossilCore exists
A fossil record becomes more useful when the specimen image, identification, geological setting, collecting locality, references and collection history stay connected. Generic inventory software can store a name and a number, but it rarely reflects how fossil collectors actually document specimens.
FossilCore was designed around that relationship. A collection is organized into specimens and sites, supported by configurable data-entry profiles, scientific context, images, maps, searching, output and collection-management tools.
Local control of collection data
FossilCore is a desktop application. Day-to-day collection work is performed locally rather than requiring a hosted account. External scientific services such as PBDB, WoRMS and Macrostrat are integrations used when their online information is requested.
A useful Free edition
FossilCore Free Personal is intended to remain genuinely usable for personal fossil collection management. It does not require registration or activation. Advanced PRO and Institutional capabilities are layered on top of the same application and collection format. Version updates are included with paid licenses.
Documentation as part of the product
Contextual help is available throughout FossilCore, including documentation for advanced features even when they are not included in the active edition. That lets users understand a capability before deciding whether they need it.
